Velvet Itch

Hello! I've been meaning to come back but just couldn't figure out what I wanted to say. Writing is not my strong suit to say the least. I've been trying to work on a few things here and there and searching for ideas of this fabric I bought at Jo-Ann's a couple weeks ago. There's so many great ideas rolling around in my head I just need to pick one!

This is a super awesome micro suede I got when I went. This is the one I have the best ideas for! It's so pretty and perfect I cant wait to do something with it to wear it every day. My main problem with it right now is knowing where to start. Do you think I should use an interfacing or lining with this? I feel like I'd almost have to.

This is the rest of my haul I got the other day. The fat quarter and vinyl will be used for some type of pouch to give someone for christmas. The gray fabric I bought will be used to hopefully make my own version of this $345 Rag and Bone dress. Who knows, I could end up making something completely different with it bc I think I need a lighter gray.


On to my favorite peanut butter cookies of all time. I absolutely love using old versions of recipes for recipes like this and I just so happened to get a very old version of the Joy of Cooking book from my Grandma last year.

Joy of Cooking Peanut Butter Cookies

  • 1/2 cup butter or shortening (I used shortening)
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup peanut butter (Crunchy would be fantastic in this!)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 - 1 1/2 cups AP flour

Preheat oven to 375°F. Beat the butter or shortening until soft with a fork or with a mixer. (I used a fork here because you don't need the mixer for anything else) Add both sugars gradually and mix until creamy. Add the rest of ingredients, except flour, and beat.  After everything is joined together add the sifted flour. At this point I would fold in any extras you have (raisins, chocolate chips, nuts, anything delicious) Start rolling the dough into small balls. I made mine a little larger so I didn't have to use two pans. Place on a greased cookie sheet when ready. After all are on the cookie sheet use a fork to stamp it vertically and horizontally once on each cookie. Bake for about 10 minutes or so. Let cool for about 10 seconds and then cram them all in your mouth because they're so delicious.
